What We Do TRCF believes in the human possibility of bringing about progressive social action. The foundation solicits, identifies and evaluates projects that define and resolve community problems at a grassroots level, and makes grants to organizations working on the ground floor of change. To support this work, TRCF raises funds from individual donors and foundations. Three Rivers Community Foundation is a member of
the Funding Exchange, a national association of foundations that share a commitment to supporting community-based philanthropy through "Change, not charity." The Funding Exchange offers TRCF a rich source of shared experience, information, networking and collaboration
"When I think of the Three Rivers Community Fund, I think of the word 'democracy.' We formed the foundation to seed grassroots leadership that would nourish and strengthen the basic principles of democracy in our community. Our purpose in creating the Foundation was simple. We wanted to provide opportunities for neighborhood residents to enhance their skills, become community leaders and take charge of their communities. We had a dream and turned it into a reality by creating the Three Rivers Community Fund."
